Q: What coordinates should I use for my GPS?

Q: Where should I park?
A: Volunteers will direct you when you enter the park
Q: Is there an entrance fee?
A: A ten-dollar donation for parking is the only fee for admittance. Donations are for Proclaiming Grace Outreach.
Q: What is permissible to be brought into the event?
A: All items are subject to search. Also no outside food or alcohol is allowed in the festival/public area. Campsites are considered private areas so we only ask that you be a good neighbor.
Q: Can we eat the food that other teams prepare?
A: Unfortunately, due to health rules and regulations, the competitors cannot share their food with the public except during the People’s Choice Category at 3:00 PM on Saturday. During this time patrons can register to be a judge for a small $5 donation. Judges will receive samples of pulled pork from each competitor and then vote on their favorite.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: This is a rain or shine event, no-refunds.
Q: Can I bring my pets?
A: Only service animals are permitted in public areas.
Q: Is smoking allowed?
A: Smoking is not allowed in the amphitheater, however there are plenty of places for smoking away from the crowd.

Q: What is included in my BBQ Competition entry fee?
A: Entry to win cash, trophies and a camping site is included in your entry fee. The camping sites have 30 and 50 amp electric outlets, water, sewer, cable TV outlets and WiFi. They do not have 110 outlets, you must bring a 30 amp to 110 adapter if you need a standard outlet. These RV sites are big. Typical sites are about 15 feet by 50 feet. Friday nights campsite is FREE and will be assigned as you arrive. If you wish to camp (or drop some items off) before Friday you may call the Rockahock Campground Office (804 966 8362) and reserve your campsite ahead of time. They will allow you to pick a site inside of the designated area for the BBQ Competitors.
Q: Is Pickin N Pullin a KCBS Sanctioned Event?
A: Yes. It is a qualifier for the American Royal and Jack Daniel Competition.
Q: Will there be a Peoples Choice Contest?
A: Yes there will be. Participants are asked to prepare 4 pork butts. Yes, you can sauce your meat but it must be done before you turn in the entry. You must pass a Health Inspection to participate.
Q: Do I have to pay the $40 Health Department Fee to enter People's Choice?
A: You do not have to pay the $40 fee to the health department. We will pay the fee for you. Your entry fee will also be cheaper because you are helping the event and we understand that the meat is not free.
Q: Do I have to be inspected by the Health Department to enter the Peoples Choice Contest?
A: Yes, you can download a temporary food permit application here. SEND THIS FORM TO jcaldwell@rockahock.com. This must be done by April 1st or the Health Department will not inspect your team. If you do not pass inpection you are not eligiable for the Peoples Choice prizes. If you have already been approved for a 2018 permanent food permit you do not need to be inspected by the health department, but please bring all of your certificates to varify with our local authorities.
Q: What if it rains?
A: This is a rain or shine event. In case of extreme weather, updates on the event will be posted on the homepage of this website and facebook.
Q: Does the festival allow alcohol?
A: NO coolers, picnic baskets, or open container/public display of alcohol are allowed into the festival or public areas. If you are cooking/camping, your site is considered private area, we only ask you be a good neighbor.
